Bending Rolls and Slip Roll machines

GMC electric powered Plate Rolls have a manual hand wheel to adjust the bending roll position, manual adjustment of the pinch roll and manual opening of the top roll to remove finshed metal tube shapes. The machine should be able to roll mild steel near capacity thickness down to 3 times the diameter of the top roll. Thinner metal may be rolled tighter and narrower widths of thicker metal may be rolled to larger diameters.
Aluminum can be used at thickness capacities relative to tensile strength (for 5052 you may go 25% thicker, for 3003 you may go 50% thicker).
Stainless Steel can be used at about 60% of the thickness of mild steel capacity. Stainless may also be more difficult to roll to as tight a diameter due to the higher tensile strength and spring back. Be careful when rolling A36 steel plate because the tensile strength can vary widely and cause different results from one batch to the next.
A cone forming roller is built into each of these machines. It is designed to have the inner radius of a half donut shaped flat blank rub against it. Some people use vice grips to slow the inner radius down so the longer outer radius moves faster as needed to complete the desired cone shape. Please see the photo above.
